BioFor the past two years, I've been a conferences and events coordinator at The Holy Land Experience, a Bible adventure park in Orlando, Florida. We were often booked for weddings, banquets, and film shoots; more recently, we got involved with sponsoring conferences, tours, cruises, and more.
With the purchase of the Holy Land by the Trinity Broadcasting Network in the summer of 2007, a lot of things changed. My department was eliminated, our inventory worth well over $20,000 was unceremoniously dumped in the garbage, and I tearfully had to inform my 17 team members that they no longer had jobs. I stuck around for two weeks to close out accounts, get us out of contracts, and otherwise finish well.
I kept this journal to track lessons I learned along the way in a somewhat less embarressing way than sticking notes on individual event files. It's kind of obvious why this can't be public, but if you'd like to read, please leave a comment and I'll let you in.
